I saw this Pro-Tip from Disney Pixar on Twitter today:
“Try to have a firm grasp of the emotional core of a story before writing it.”
I love to story tell, through pictures and in writing. Disney is right – the emotional core matters.
I confidently believe that you can tell, just by looking at a photo, the heart that was put into it. It could just be a millisecond of a difference when the shutter was pushed or the slight degree in angle, but that subtle attention to detail makes all the difference.
I try to spend time with couples before their actual wedding, whether it’s during an Engagement Session or at their Rehearsal Dinner. Getting to know your subjects helps both parties, especially with something like wedding photography. The comfort they have with you is very important, as well as your emotional tie to your client and their story. The more you know, the more you can communicate (through interaction and pictures) genuinely from the heart.
It’ll be Mr. Rogers for adults. LoL

You just hit on the very reason I love reading your blog. I don’t know you, I don’t even live near you and I’m certainly not in need of a wedding photographer since I’ve been happily married more than 12 years now but what I see when I look at your pictures just captivates me on a level that very few things can.
I feel as if I’m not just hearing or seeing a story but I feel like I’m experiencing it right along with you. The best thing of course is that you get to capture such beautiful happy moments in peoples lives. It’s an intimate moment that we share with those we love and trust and people have taken you into that trust, again a beautiful thing, it says a lot about you.
Most of all I can see that you are passionate about what you do and you take pride in it to. Good for you! I will continue to be swept away in the magical moments you preserve with the lightness of the shudder and the solidness of the frame.
I say that I’ll someday give up cussing too. So far, someday hasn’t come. Love this shot, lady!
