I am the opposite of a hoarder. A purger – that’s what they call it. I don’t like clutter – physical or mental.
My closet gets cleaned out once per month. For every new clothing item I buy, I get rid of an old one.
I was having a conversation with a friend about Facebook and Instagram. There is so much clutter that comes through our newsfeed. I wasn’t sure if I should start defriending or “muting” certain individuals. Nothing against these people; I actually like them. So is this a big enough deal that I need to take action and stop following them?
It is. The things you read and the people you interact with on a daily basis are crucial to your well being. It’s like the food you eat.
I’ve begun to clean up what comes through my newsfeed. For sure, I unfollow anyone who constantly complains or puts out negative news. I also unfollow anyone I feel indifferent about. People either inspire or drain you – Choose them wisely.
I was hesitant to do this because I was worried what people would think. What if this person noticed that I stopped following them – would they be offended? I see people following and unfollowing my business page all the time. The number has fluctuated around 54,000 for a while. I’m happy that some people gave it a try, then decided what I have to offer wasn’t for them. In the end, I want people there who actually want to be there. 🙂
