The Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens is a dream location to photograph at. Not many people do it because the permit fee for a portrait session is higher than most places in Los Angeles (4 figures +).
Word on the street is they’ve only had 3 weddings take place on property because it’s $100,000 just to have your event take place there. Forget furniture rentals, catering, and tents – that’s just to have the space.
The Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens
Nonetheless, the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever done an Engagement Session. Thanks to Danny & Sarah for giving me a chance to shoot there, and Chris at the Huntington Library for escorting us to all the prime locations. By the way, the permit fee for a shoot includes a private escort who takes you around in a golf car. Property rules are strict and include only 1 outfit (you cannot change once on property).
P.S. Don’t try to do any sort of photoshoot there without a permit (I tried one time before I knew). A guard will quickly appear out of nowhere and ask you to leave. And really, they pop out of nowhere, even if you try to be sneaky.
Update: Sarah & Danny have since been married and kept me in their circle. It’s always a huge honor watching couples come together and grow as a family through the years.

There are a bunch of other birthday parties and such I’ve done for them but I don’t blog every single shoot I do. Otherwise I would be spending my life blogging, which wouldn’t be the worst thing, because I love blogging, but ya know. Life.
