How Being a Club Promoter Made Me a Better Business Person

When I was 18, I was a Club Promoter.

I call this time in my life:  Clubbing With “Azns.”

My peers made fun of me. “Why are you a club promoter?”

I questioned if I could make better use of my time than putting flyers on cars.

Looking back, it was hands down one of the best things I ever did to learn about business.

The company was run by 6 guys. They hosted multiple events each week. At each event I stood next to the cashier at the door while each person in line gave them $20 to enter the club.  $20…$20…$20…

Multiply that by thousands of club visitors each week. They made a killing.

These guys knew how to have big goals. How to get people excited about things. How to market to the cool kids. They knew how to make money while having fun.

I would ask them questions like, “How is it owning a company with your friends? Have you ever had a really big disagreement? How do you feel when you throw a party and no one show up?”

It was insightful. They were smart, and I apply many of the things I learned to my business today.

I call this time in my life: Doing What I Love & Crushing It.  😉
